Movie and Party: We have earned our class reward. To celebrate, we will watch The Grinch Who Stole Christmas on Friday. Since the movie is 105 minutes long, we will start it in the morning after the high school performance and will finish it while drinking hot chocolate for our party. Here is a link to the Common Sense Media review for the movie. The party will be on Friday, 12/22 from 2:00-3:00. All are welcome to join us! Please let me know if you have any questions. 

House of the Way/Sponsored Families: Here is the updated list with all the items you purchased for these families. We appreciate all of your help & generosity! What an amazing lesson of other people's mindset these kids have learned through this project. Thank you so much!!

Our student council is bringing the holiday cheer! The following dates are set:

Monday, Dec. 18th - Christmas PJ Day

Tuesday, Dec.19th - Santa and Mrs. Claus Day

Wednesday, Dec. 20th - Elf Day

Thursday, Dec. 21st - Grinch Day

Friday, Dec. 22nd - Ugly Sweater Day


Shoes: Due to the mud and wet conditions, it would be great if students could bring an extra pair of shoes to school to change into after recess. Currently, they are leaving their muddy shoes in the hallway and walking around in socks in the classroom. 


Math: Last week, we completed Unit 4/lessons 13 - 16. This week, we will be working on unit 4/lessons 17 - 20. Extra practice at home using the IXL textbook will be helpful to reinforce these essential standards, especially for those who struggle. Additional IM resources(the workbook we use) can be found HERE.

Birthdays - Students bringing in treats for birthdays must stick to the safe snacks list. Homemade treats are not allowed. Store-bought items must be sent to me ahead of time. Please include a picture of the front of the package/container and the label on the back. We have nut, egg, and dairy allergies in our room. Thanks!

                                                                Laps for Lincoln:  Collection days are Monday, Wednesday, & Friday again this week. Positive behavior and donations are helping kids earn backpack charms like last year. The main event will be this Friday, September 29th from 5:00-7:00 at SJHS. Hope to see you all there! NWEA  testing is complete for the fall! We are using this information to set goals in our student-led conference slides that you will see in October! Student Council - Next week 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will hear about student council on the news. They will be able to complete a Google form if they are interested in running to be their classroom representative.                                                           Happy Labor Day!  We had an exciting and successful first week of school! It's been wonderful getting to know each student and learning procedures to help build a stronger classroom community! Each student should have a "good fit" book in his or her backpack. 4th graders are encouraged to read for 20 minutes or more at home each night. Once the reading is finished, students need to record the minutes and pages read. Please sign your initials on the bookmark. The bookmark is not intended to be a reading log. Research does not support the use of reading logs to promote life-long readers. It's meant to track each child's reading rate to ensure they are finishing the books they start.
